Veronica Tivadar Obituary

TIVADAR Veronica B. "Ronnie" Tivadar, age 78 of Stratford and the beloved wife of Anthony Tivadar, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 27, 2009 at home in her chair. Born in Peckville, Pa., November 11, 1930 to the late Stanley and Veronica (Swiatek) Burke, she has been a life long area resident. Ronnie graduated from Harding High School with honors. She was very active in scouting for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Joseph's Polish National Church in Stratford where she was also a former church organist. Her love for music also had her playing the piano and accordion and becoming an instructor of both to many. Ronnie was the proprietor of Small World Dollhouses and Miniatures for many years in Stratford. She loved to knit, needlepoint and cross-stitch and she gave many handmade sweaters and gifts to her adoring family and many friends. As of late, she found comfort in writing poetry on many different subjects. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother who not only raised her four children, but played a very large role in raising her three oldest grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Tony Tivadar; four children, Linda Brown and her husband, Kevin of Stratford, Marcia Telesha and her companion, David Wurcel of Stratford, Joseph Tivadar and his wife, Patricia of Trumbull and Cheryl Mercure and her husband, Scott of Naugatuck; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband, Jason, Sean, Katelen, Joseph, Raymond, Andrew, Nicholas and Kevin Jr.; her only sister, Florence Rasmussen and her husband, William of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place Monday, August 31, 2009 at 9 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Polish National Church on Stratford Road in Stratford. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery located adjacent to the church. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donation in Ronnie's memory be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183, the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or the Lymphoma Research Foundation (lymphomathon.org).
