Dear Daria,
I am so very sorry to learn of Vince's passing. Vince was my mentor, and protector. He taught me many of the lessons, at a relatively young age at Yale, that I used every day in my subsequent career. At pivotal points in my early career, it was Vince's personal intervention that propelled me forward. I can still hear his voice as he advised me on paths to take and assured me, unwaveringly, of his personal support. I can still hear his voice clarity that a 20 member committee would vote 1-0.
I can assure you that Vince lives on in many, certainly in me.

Dear Daria,

I loved Vince; his spirit; his passion for Medicine and teaching; his love of Infectious Diseases; and his devotion to Yale. Vince never hesitated to tell me when he thought I was doing something misguided as Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale, but always with a kind and generous approach. I missed him when I left Yale. We will all miss him now. I hope you are comforted by knowing how much he was admired, respected and loved by his colleagues.

Christina and Daria -

My thoughts are with you both in this difficult time. In the few opportunities I had to meet with Vincent, I was always taken aback by his kindness, remarkable intelligence, and keen wit. I only wish I had spent more time with him, what a truly inspiring figure.

My thoughts are with you both and of course with the whole family as I offer my deepest condolences during this sad time.
