Mary Evelyn Herr, 90, of Carlisle passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
She was born on Thursday, Sept. 2, 1920, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late George Henry Myers, Sr. and Mariah F. (Henderson) Myers. Mary was the widow of Merrill J. Herr, who died May 23, 2009, and to whom she was married for 67 years.
Mary retired after 29 years of service from the former Blough & Wagner Dress Factory in Mt. Holly Springs and then worked for the former Billet's Electric Co. in Carlisle for several years. She was a member of Allison United Methodist Church, Carlisle, and the Order of Eastern Star Old Bellaire Chapter for 57 years.
She is survived by one brother, George Henry Myers Jr. of Carlisle; a nephew, James C. Eurich II; two nieces, Karen (Eurich) Robitaille and Deborah (Roush) Baldwin; six grand-nieces and -nephews; and one great-grand-niece.
Mary was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Spidle, Cora Eurich and Catherine Roush; and one nephew, Michael Spidle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Dr. Paul L. Herring officiating. Viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home and where an Eastern Star service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
