Paul Bear Obituary

Born Aug. 11, 1933, in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late J. Raymond and Elsie (Porter) Bear.

Mr. Bear retired from PPG as a truck driver after 23 years of service. He also owned Bear's Lawn Service.

He was a member of Barnitz United Methodist Church, Carlisle; the Eagles of Carlisle; and the American Legion Post of Mt. Holly Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley L. (Kling) Bear; three sons, Paul Bear Jr. and John Bear, both of Carlisle, and Tim Bear of Newville; two daughters, Beverly Shughart of Carlisle and Tracey Shenk of Newville; four brothers, Hardy Bear of Carlisle, Bruce Bear and Fred Bear, both of Mt. Holly Springs, and Lee Bear of Ickesburg; two sisters, Helen Witmer of Newville and Ella Nickel of Carlisle; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Seldon Bear, Harry Bear and George Bear.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. John H. Kratz officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church at 23 Church Lane, Carlisle, PA 17013.
