Dear Haases-
So many memories from a long ago childhood that appear as if they happened yesterday:
Lydia as the glamorous red head with exotic green eyes and a ready laugh. She, the mom at the back door off the kitchen at 7144 handing out treats like home made polish kolaczkis. And during special times, how she would fry up chicken livers in butter and I'd think I was in heaven as I bit into them. She was the consummate Mom, and was really a rock of a friend for my mom as well. I remember she and my mom wrapping their "do's" so as not to spoil the creations secured at the weekend visit to the salon. And I often pondered what exactly they did all day at the bank. Then there were ironing parties, the group cookie making ventures at the holidays, the shared remedies for sick children, the communions, the confirmations, and the childhoods shared in parallel with the Haase kids--two Jeffs and a baby arriving after all of us who shared a name with my mother. And today that baby - Lisa Jeannie-- and I having laughing fits reminiscent of those of our mothers and finding a lasting connection through it all. I used to call infrequently, but given that I still had their number memorized from childhood would love to call up and hear Lydia answer the phone with her familiar and distinctive "mmmmyello" greeting on the other end of the line. I remember my mother doing the same...a shared code for these good friends. I hope they are up in heaven visiting and laughing like the old days and that you all are comforted in the memory of the joy you gave her through your lives, proximity and frequent visits.

May your sorrow and loss pass gently, and I will hold you and memories of Lydia in my heart for all my days.

With love, Sandra

Lisa,

Your mother was an elegant woman. She added a touch of class to the beach at Paw Paw. There are no words to heal your hurt right now. We are so sorry.
