Charles Griggs Obituary


Camden resident

Charles Edward Griggs, 73, of 259-A E. U.S. 158, Camden, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Winslow Memorial Home. Mr. Griggs, a native of Pasquotank County, was the son of the late Horace Edward Griggs and Edna Mae Umphlett Griggs Pugh. He was a retired newspaper carrier for The Daily Advance. Mr. Griggs is survived by a daughter, Teresa DeVaughn of Maryland; two sons, Randy A. Griggs of Elizabeth City and Charles D. Griggs of California; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly G. Coppersmith, and a brother, Roy B. Griggs. A funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Ray Archer at Twiford's Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. Twiford's Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel, 405 E.
