ARCANUM—Carolyn N. Troutwine, age 81, of Arcanum, peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, with her husband at her side.
Carolyn was born February 6, 1940, on Long Island, N.Y., and was the second child of John and Vera Robinson. She grew up in Brewster, N.Y. She met her future husband, Fred, at Wittenberg University and they were married on June 15, 1962.
She taught elementary school in the Springfield, Ohio school system, then at Arcanum-Butler in Arcanum, and finally at Franklin-Monroe Elementary in Pitsburg, Ohio. She had a great passion for teaching children the importance of reading, especially in their formulative years. She also enjoyed traveling/camping, spending time with cherished friends, and she loved everything about the Christmas season. She was one of the original Founders of the Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society, and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Arcanum.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Troutwine; siblings, Marilyn Hall (Jan) in Colorado, Jim Robinson (MaryAnn) in Pennsylvania, and sister-in-law Nancy McTiernan in Maryland; children, Tammy Meyer (Doug Allen), Scott Troutwine (Nancy), and John Troutwine (Angie), all residing in the Arcanum area, and Chad Troutwine (Jennifer Crowner) living in Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by grandchildren Dustin Meyer, Devon Meyer (Stephanie), Arthur Troutwine (Brianna), Simon Troutwine (Stephanie), Wills Troutwine and Sheena Troutwine.
Although Carolyn valiantly fought declining health over the last few years, she was able to get out and enjoy a July 4 baby shower for her future granddaughter (Arthur and Brianna), and had the pleasure of meeting her first great-grandchild, Athena Corrine Troutwine (Simon and Stephanie), born on July 8.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Robinson of Brewster, N.Y.; and her brother, John Robinson.
Carolyn wanted to express a special "thank you" to Dr. Lynne Hawley for the many years of excellent medical care, Wayne Healthcare (Greenville) doctors and staff, and also the Medicine and More (Greenville) pharmacists and staff for the assistance—she always appreciated their professionalism and patience when answering her many questions!
The family will hold a private graveside service at Mote Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society, P.O. Box 4, Arcanum, OH 45304, or the Arcanum Preservation Society, 102 W. South St., Arcanum, OH 45304.

So sorry to hear about your great loss! Carolyn was a great person. I babysat for her children for years and observed her in teaching. She was exceptional working with students. May she be at peace. To Fred and all the children my heart goes out to you all. She will always be forever in our hearts.

I had the honor of meeting Carolyn at Simon and Stephanies wedding. I didn´t get to know her personally but I feel in my heart I do because I have come to know her children and grandchildren and they are all so loving and kind and children of our Savior and that makes us all family. I know she was a wonderful person by knowing her children and grandchildren. Saddened by your loss. Gods blessings to All of you.

Carolyn was such a special part of my growing up. I have great memories of our camping and crazy activities while in her Girl Scout troop and when we´d hang out at her house. Love and prayers to Fred and family
