Edward Bobak Obituary

Edward Bobak, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the age of 79. Ed was born in Toledo, Ohio but spent most of his childhood in and around Niagara Falls New York. After graduating from Tri-State College in Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, Ed served in the army for 2 years, working as an engineer with the Army Signal Corps. Ed later received a master's degree in Industrial Management from Yale University. In 1960, he moved his family to San Pedro, California and began a 33 year career with The Aerospace Corporation, a non-profit corporation providing technical support to the space programs of the United States and NATO. Ed worked on a wide variety of satellite programs in support of the nation's space missions, including weather, communications and intelligence. Ed retired in 1992, and spent his retirement years enjoying his favorite hobbies - gardening, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Nel; their five children, Martin, Wayne, Lois, Peter and Karen; and four grandchildren, Brittany, Kevin, Kyle and Christopher. The Bobak's have lived in San Pedro for 50 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed's name to the World Wildlife Foundation. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

Dear Bobak Family,

Earl and I were so sad to read this and wish you to know how much we both admired Ed. I was pleased and delighted to see him at the Aerospace 50th celebration. Ed and I were rivals during our knee replacement surgery and especially therapy. We kept challenging one another. He will always be remembered with admiration and much love.
Our prayers are with you Nel.
With sympathy, Jeannine and Earl Eakle
