Lillian Felando Obituary

Lillian Marovich Felando peacefully passed away on October 7th, 2023 in San Pedro, California. She was born in San Pedro on June 29th, 1929 to parents Ivan and Katica Vidovich and always called San Pedro home. Lillian attended local schools; among them were Mary Star and San Pedro High, class of 1948. Mom's first job was at the Cabrillo Beach snack bar. "Now Lillian, we know how many scoops are in each bucket so don't give your friends extra." Well, she did it anyway. Lillian married Joseph Marovich in 1953. They shared their lives together for 50 years. They built their home and family together that consisted of three boys, Joseph, Jess, and John Marovich. Lillian had much love for her life, husband, and boys. Lillian worked for the LAUSD for many years. She was well loved and attended many faculty events years after retirement. With her newfound free time, she helped her son John at the San Pedro Caf. She volunteered at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce as well as many other organizations. Her true passion was being a member of the Dalmatian American Club Women's Auxiliary. She served passionately, including one term as President. The annual fashion show was her favorite. Lillian would fill multiple tables every year and as she grew older, she would say, "I'm not going to work so hard on this next year." Well, she did and kept her tables full until the fashion show ended due to COVID. If she ever heard that someone was in need of help or food, Lillian was always there. After her husband Joe passed, Lillian's lifelong dream of traveling to Croatia came true. About a year after she returned from her trip, she met Nick "Chicky" Felando at an event at the Elks Club. After a few years of dating, Lillian and Nick were married on Catalina Island. Nick and Lillian never missed the annual "Slav Night" at the Elks. Nick passed away in 2011 and although she once again experienced great sadness, she was fortunate to find love twice in life. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Katica, first husband Joseph Marovich, second husband Nick Felando, brothers Anthony and John Vidovich, her much loved sister Donna Vidovich, brother-in-law Pete Marovich, sisters-in-law Esther Marovich and Dora Marovich. Lillian is survived by her three sons, Joseph Marovich (Trang), Jess Marovich (Jackie) and John Marovich (Tammy), Sister Antoinette Marinkovich, brothers-in-law John Marovich, Ronnie Marovich, Mike Marovich (Komo) sister-in-law Eva Torres (David), along with numerous Nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mom, you are now in a place of pure love and peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian's memory to the Dalmatian-American Club of San Pedro Scholarship Fund. Rosary will be held on November 1, 2023 at 7pm during the Viewing from 4:30pm - 8:30pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel. Services will be held November 2, 2023 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel from 11:30am 12:30pm.

I met Lillian and Joe several years ago when they were our neighbors and Lillian always had the best attitude, wise advice, and great sense of humor. It's wonderful to see how she continued to live her life to the fullest while being supported by her amazing family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.
