She passed away June 12, 2012 at Loma Linda University Hospital in Murietta while living in Anza, California. Mary graduated from Crystal Springs High School in 1943. In California, she worked at Little Company of Mary in Torrance for 33 years as an operating room nurse and supervisor until retiring in 1992. Mary then worked four more years at South Bay Hospital until 1996. She was respected and loved by her colleagues who appreciated her leadership and compassion. Mary was also passionate about her family, and she loved each person unconditionally. She married Willie Ray Sharpe in 1947. They were married for 41 years. He passed away in 1988. Mary was the best boss ever. She was always there for my co-workers and me. She would cover my room for an hour or so whenever I wanted to go to do something at my daughter's school. How many bosses do that? She was there for all of our weddings, the births of our children, and deaths in our families. She was one in a million, and she will be missed by so many people.

I first met Mary in 1967 when I joined Little Comp. of Mary in Rec.Rm. A very busy, hands-on surgical nurse who ran a great dept. And, she always seemed to have a smile ready to pop up!
