Jean Klein Obituary

Jean Marie (Sherman) Klein
Jan. 10, 1931 - March 2, 2014

Jean Marie (Sherman) Klein passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014, in Woodland, at the age of 83.
Jean was born outside of Richmond, Va., on Jan. 10, 1931. At the age of 18 in 1949, Jean moved to Southern California where she met the love of her life, Jack Klein. They were married on Feb. 17, 1950, in El Monte.
In 1964, Jean and Jack and their three children moved permanently to Woodland where they started their farming business, Klein Farms.
Jean loved her family (especially her grandchildren), gardening, traveling and flying. She was an accomplished pilot who logged many hours and held an IFR certificate as well as a commercial license. Jean and Jack flew their airplane to all lower 48 states and Mexico. They also traveled to multiple countries on cruises and vacationed numerous times with family members in Hawaii.
She was a active member of the Flying Farmers, the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, Beech Aero Club, and the 99er's club (an international women's flying club) all for 24 years. She also held several offices in the 99er's and served as a member on the Yolo County Grand Jury.
Jean is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack; their children, Cindy Ochoa (Stan), John C. Klein (Cathy) and Brenda Klein (Blake Wideman); along with their grandchildren, Chris Ochoa (Tami) and Mark Ochoa (Nikki); Christy Rico (Tyler), Elizabeth Curtis (Corbin), Geoffrey Klein and Marissa Hall. She also had six great-grandchildren, Danny and Ashley Ochoa, and Annette, Tyler, Abbigail and Annabelle Ochoa.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at Mary's Cemetery, 12020 County Road 98, Woodland. The services will be followed by a reception at the Woodland Hotel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland Memorial Hospital or Woodland Christian School. McNary's Funeral Home of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

So sorry to learn that your mom has passed away. She once told me how much she loved the barns here in Montana. I have often thought of her when I've seen an old one in a beautiful spot. She was such a sweet person and I know she will be greatly missed. Victor and I are thinking of you and your family.

Her smile was as bright as my mom's! It always made me feel welcome. I'm sorry for your loss!
