Mark McGowan Obituary
Mark was born on Nov. 23, 1973 in Kingston, to Lynn Sullivan of Marshfield, Mass. and Jerry McGowan of Kingston. He leaves behind three sisters, Julia Sullivan, of Marshfield, Mass., Nora Sullivan, of Dublin, Ireland and Tara McGowan, of Saugerties; his brother, Timothy Sullivan of Marshfield, Mass.; his stepfather, Paul Sullivan of Marshfield, Mass.; and stepmother, Mary McGrane McGowan of Kingston.
Mark was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gloria and Angelo DeMicco; his paternal grandfather, John McGowan; and his maternal aunt, Darlene Steltz.
He was "briefly" educated at Kingston High School, however his education was truly drawn from the rather colorful life he lead. Mark had achieved a level of wisdom and inner peace that could not be learned in any college or university. He came to learn so much about himself when he embraced sobriety in the welcoming "rooms" that opened his heart and mind.
Mark's most known trait to those that enjoyed his company was his warm and boisterous laugh that bellowed and shook the places he would visit. Mark was truly funny, and enjoyed humor in other and in everyday situations. The memory of his laugh will continue to warm and enrich the lives of those he touched. Mark has left behind a legacy and a legion of friends too numerous to mention. Those of you who have been able to share his loyalty and his love understand the person that he was.
If Mark could be said to have a hobby, it would be that he strove to live a full life, and enjoy the richness of friends and family every day.
In his most recent stage of life he found religion, he found clarity and he found his dearest love, Ashley Boice, and her daughter Bella. From that union was born Maximus Angelo McGowan, his not yet one year old son. Mark's love for his son was boundless, and if there can be any solace in our loss of Mark, let it be that he had the opportunity to see life clearly and be a father if but for a short time, and to enjoy the unyielding love that accompanied his fatherhood.
Mark is survived by Ashley's parents, Wendy Boice and James Boice, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Anna Qualtiere McGowan; his uncle, John "Jackie" McGowan; and his longtime friend, Kathy Klonowski of Kingston; his uncle, Vincent McGowan and Lisa McGowan of Kingston; his uncle, Joseph McGowan and Deborah McGowan of Kingston; his uncle, Terrence DiMicco of Kingston; his uncle ,Joseph DiMicco of Houston, Texas; his uncle, A.J. DiMicco of Kingston; his uncle, Roy DiMicco and Lori DiMicco of Kingston; his uncle, Anthony DiMicco of Kingston; his aunt, Stephanie Zehnick and John Zehnick of Kingston; his aunt, Marisa DiMicco of Kingston; his aunt, Angela Potter and Robert Potter; as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family including his much loved cousins T.J. McGowan and Alexzandra McGowan and his godmother Jean Marie Sangi.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 to 9 p.m. A funeral procession will for Saturday 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church. Burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Mark,knowing you professionally through the Freeman for the last 12 years with the Riccardi's advertising account and seeing you literally every single week (sometimes MORE than I wanted to) LOLOLOL (I can hear your crazy laugh now and Lisa's too when reading this line) to then actually becoming a part of your family, when I married Jeff. You were the only personal I allowed to call me Kimmie. When I saw you recently at Hannoford you went on and on about Max and showed me all his pictures on your phone.You actually beamed when talking about Isabella and Max anytime I saw you. I witnessed you take Isabella to numerous soccer practices/games at Chambers field. I shared some great times with you but of all the years I knew you- the happiest and most content years were the ones spent with those two beautiful children . Being a father suited you so well Mark. You wanted nothing but the best for them and Ashley. Continue to watch over them and love them. Cannot believe your gone. Your laughter and "larger than life" personality will be missed by so many people.
