Philip Kight Obituary

Philip G. Kight WEST HURLEY- Philip G. Kight , 72, of West Hurley, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Albany Medical Center. Born Feb. 18, 1943 in Kingston, he was the son of Betty Lee Van Kleeck Kight and the late William R. Kight and was a lifelong resident of the area. Phil was employed as a carpenter and member of the United Brotherhood, Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 279, for over 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a charter member of the Southside Rod and Gun Club, an honorary member of the Hidden Valley and Wittenberg Rod and Gun Clubs and a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 1026 in Woodstock and a long-standing member of the NRA. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his twin brother, William J. Kight. Surviving in addition to his mother of Hurley are his daughter, Rene Roosa and her husband Paul of Germantown, a son Roger Kight of West Hurley, a brother, Michael Kight of West Hurley, a sister Ellen Densen and her husband Michael of Bearsville, his former wife, Sue Coon of Germantown, his life companion Karen Van Valkenburgh of West Hurley, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday 4 to 6 p.m. at Lasher Funereal Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. At 6 p.m. a celebration of his life will be observed. Private burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery, Woodstock.

Phil you where the best. Just wanted to share when you went camping at the club pond you would disappear in the evening I would say where is Phil people would say you went to bed I would yell out to you "Goodnight Phil" the next day you said I heard you Betty. I will cherish all memories. My thoughts and prayers to the family he will never be forgotten.
