William H. Hung Sr.

William H. Hung, Sr. ZENA - William H. Hung, Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at his residence. Born Feb. 21, 1936 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Eugene J. and Mae Dohnken Hung, Sr., he was a lifelong resident of the Woodstock hamlet of Zena. Bill attended the Zena School and Kingston High School. He was a mechanic and employed at Ulster Sanitation at the time of his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and was a life member and a founding member of the Woodstock Fire Co. #4 in Zena. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He always was ready to be of help to others in a time of need, never looking for anything in return. He enjoyed conversation and discussing local history. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda M. Decker Hung, April 26, 2001. Surviving are his daughter, Terry Lynn Cogswell and her husband Ralph of Durham, three sons, William, Jr., and his wife Penny of Saugerties, James and his fiancé, Elaine Bragg of Saugerties, and Jeffrey Hung and his wife Darla of Castle Rock, Colo., a brother Eugene J. Jr., (Mickey) and his wife Carol of Lamontville, two sisters, Gloria Todd of Zena and Kathleen (Renie) Anderson of Conn., six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m., at Lasher Funeral Home, 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Zena Rural Cemetery.
