William Kozack STONE RIDGE - William Kozack, 63, of Stone Ridge, died Wednesday April 9, 2014, after a brief illness at Health Alliance Hospital of the Hudson Valley, Broadway Campus. Bill was born in Manhattan on Dec. 19, 1950 to his parents Anastasia and Alex Kozack. Bill was raised in Greenpoint Brooklyn, where he met and married his wife Joanne. Bill was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical H.S. He furthered his education by earning a Associate Degree in Construction Technology at the State University of Farmingdale. Bill spent most of his working life in law enforcement. He rose from the ranks of N.Y.C. Correction Officer, to Captain, to Assistant Deputy Warden, and finally to Deputy Warden before retiring and moving permanently to Stone Ridge. His retirement was short lived when Lowe’s opened their store in Kingston. He worked at Lowe’s until he retired a second time in 2012, to spend more time with his grandchildren. Bill was a true Yankee fan collecting an array of memorabilia for his Yankee Room. Bill’s knowledge of construction, made him a perfectionist when he worked on projects, no short cuts. Bill is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joanne, three children, William Kozack Jr. and wife Lisa, Nicholas Kozack and wife Joanna, and Lauren Miller and husband Chad. He was blessed with five grandchildren whom were the light of his life and adoration, Joleigh, Josephina, Cooper, Gavin and Alexander. Also surviving are nephews, Anthony and Wayne Walters, sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Tony Walters, sister in law Barbara Kozack and cousins Sasha and Thomas Korzun. In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by a brother Peter Kozack. Remember that those we love remain with us forever. His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. The Very Reverend Alexis Vinogradov will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home in Rosendale on Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church, 1824 State Route 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
