Catherine Kochan Obituary

Catherine M. Kochan SchenectadyCatherine M. Kochan was reunited with her husband, Joe on February 17, 2012. Catherine was born on March 11, 1921 in Albany the daughter of James and Maude Tierney. She was predeceased by her husband, Josephn C. Kochan; her brothers, John and William Tierney. Catherine is survived by her two sons, James (Marcia) Kochan and Timothy Kochan. Catherine is also survived by her two grandsons, Joseph (Susan) and James (Sue) Kochan; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Catherine, Zachary Joseph and Joseph James; a sister, Constance Wakeman; as well as several nieces and nephews. Catherine loved her second homes in Clearwater, FL and her camp in Lake Nancy. Catherine loved most sports especially baseball with the New York Yankees at the old stadium and hockey with the New York Islanders. Catherine and Joe enjoyed spring training in Clearwater, FL. She was a graduate of Albany High School and retired from the New York State Taxation and Finance Department with 20 years service. Catherine loved to shop and was an avid bridge player with her close friends, here and in Florida. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church for over 60 years and a member of the Rosary Society. She had volunteered for the Heart Association and the Cancer Association. The Kochan brothers want to give special thanks to the staff at Ellis Hospital, the 4A Cardiology Floor for their kindness and sensitivity for our mother. Funeral service Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Arrangements by the Daly Funeral Home, Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
