Edith "Edi" Wolf

Edith 'Edi' Wolf Clifton ParkEdith Margaret Gaupp Edi Wolf, age 92, of Clifton Park, passed peacefully on July 14th at home after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Red) Wolf; sisters, Florence (Flo) Makin and Roberta (Bobbi) Slovak. Edi grew up in Buffalo and Rochester, NY, graduated from Irondequoit High School and Buffalo State Teacher's College where she studied art and education. She was one of the first women to receive a masters of education from Union College in Schenectady. She was a member and officer of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Edi and her husband settled in Clifton Park. She was an art teacher in the Schenectady City School District and retired from Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in 1975. Edi was a dedicated teacher and threw herself into her job and her students to the maximum. It was not uncommon to see the petite lady leading a horde of children through the fields around their home exploring and gathering treasures to be used in their projects. Edi did volunteer and work with the Schenectady Inner City Ministry (SICM), The Shenendehowa Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and countless other community outreach groups and was on the Building Committee for the Shenendehowa Methodist Church. Edi enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Wolfe; son, Andy Wolf (Valerie); nephew, Jeff Slovak; and grandsons, Zeke (Liza) and Adrian (Billie) Wolf; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Julia, Olive and Winston Wolf and Xavier Paris. The family will welcome any of Edi's friends at the family home on Thursday, July 18th from 2 to 6 p.m. to share memories and stories. The family asks that any gifts be given to The Community Hospice of Saratoga, which made Edi's last days on earth comfortable and peaceful.
