Ernest Walton Obituary
Born on Jan 18, 1947, he was the son of Percy D. and Gertrude A. (Dobson) Walton.
Ernie grew up and was educated in Schenectady.
On September 24, 1977, he married Barbara Collier.
For more than 30 years, Ernie was employed as a respiratory therapist at Ellis Hospital, retiring in 2010. During his career, he received recognition as Ellis Employee of the Year in 1990 and also Healthcare Practitioner of the Year by the Center for Donation and Transplant for "consistently going above and beyond". He continued to take college courses as the Respiratory Therapist practitioner evolved from On- the- Job Training to a College Degree.
He led an active lifestyle. He was an avid marathon runner, played racquetball and handball and enjoyed fishing.
Ernest was a member of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by siblings Jane Jeffress, Percy Walton, Jr., and Robert D. Walton, Sr.
He leaves his wife of 45 years Barbara L. (Collier) Walton; sons: Ernest (Elizabeth) and Michael D. (Maria de la Luz); grandchildren: Brooklyn, Bryce, Jadon, Ava Grace, Cidney, and Connor; siblings: John, Frank, & Charles Walton and Barbara Jean Walton and Ruby Irving as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. Rev. Daniel Carlson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Aug 5 and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to neighbors, friends, the staff of Community Hospice, NYOH, Visiting Nurses, as well as church and family members.

Our condolences to the family,
Very sorry for your loss. His friends at Vent Fitness in Niskayuna are a tight knit crew and Ernie´s loss leaves a gap for all of us. We enjoyed his company and miss seeing him every morning. No more illness for Ernie, only peace.

Working along side Ernie was an absolute pleasure. A man with integrity, always helpful and respectful to his patients and fellow workers. He spoke of his family with pride.
Always with a smile ,peaceful and someone I knew I could rely on when it was necessary.
My condolences to his family, I hope this painful loss will be eased by good memories he leaves behind.

i am sorry to read the schenectady gazette ,everyday even though i now live in florida ,to see that a real life time friend of the CARLOS family passed away ERNIE WALTON god bless his wife and family may ERNIE be remembered for ever. he was a truly great person, in so many ways R.I.P
