Terence P. Higgins

Terence P. Higgins, 67, died suddenly of cardiac failure, Wednesday, August 16th at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after being stricken at home.

Born in Schenectady, March 3, 1956, son of the late William and Marion McGuire Higgins, Jr., Terence was a 1974 graduate of Mechanicville High School.

He was a fork truck operator for the Ball Metal Container Co. in Saratoga Springs for 25 years, until he retired. Thereafter, he enjoyed driving the City of Mechanicville's courtesy bus for several years, making friends and helping the elderly go about their shopping and daily trips around town.

Gardening and landscaping his yard were things he took pride in. He also enjoyed sitting on his backyard patio watching birds and nature, and working on projects around his house as well as his children's houses. He also enjoyed operating his motorcycle, proudly keeping his truck clean and polished. Cherished the time spent with his family, grandkids, siblings and their families. He was very proud to answer the call of "Da" from his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Lori Gniewek Higgins, whom he married Oct 17, 1981, his three proud children and five grandchildren: Steven (fiancée Alison Gant) Higgins of Mechanicville, Trista ( Craig) Perkins of Stillwater, Paul (fiancée Abby Dooley) Higgins of Ballston Lake, endeared grandchildren Harper Higgins, Marlie, Maci and Myla Perkins, and Dylan Higgins. Also siblings MaryEllen (Mike) Monahan of Westtown, NY, David (Eileen) Higgins of Mechanicville, sister-in-law Barbara Higgins of Mechanicville, along with nieces, nephews and his canine companion Two Socks In addition to his parents, predeceased by siblings William Higgins III, Daniel and Kathleen Higgins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Calling Hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Sunday fro 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN in loving memory of Terence P. Higgins.
