BRUCE TERLEP Obituary

NAPERVILLE - Bruce S. Terlep, age 58, a resident of Naperville since 1993, formerly of Elkhart, IN and Hinsdale, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL. He was born October 29, 1958 in Elkhart, IN. Beloved husband of Ginger Terlep (nee Stephens), whom he married July 28, 1984, loving father of Pete (Zandri) Terlep of Chicago, Thomas Terlep of Kansas City, MO and Mickey Terlep of Indianapolis, IN, devoted son of the late Vincent and Lucy (nee Ward) Terlep, dear brother of Betsy Terlep, Mary Terlep, Rich (Susan) Terlep, Ellie (Steve) Suhl and the late Chips (Kathy) Terlep and the late Jon (Andrea) Terlep, brother-in-law of Dr. Susan Stephens, John K. (Carla) Stephens and Jane (Dan) Rogers, son-in-law of the late John L. and Kay (nee Leonard) Stephens, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. Bruce had a passion for life, love and laughter. He was the best husband, father, brother, son, friend and mentor that anyone could ask for. Bruce met the love of his life at DePauw University on August 28th, 1978, and upon graduation, he attended University of Notre Dame Law School. A founding partner of Swanson, Martin & Bell, Bruce began practicing law in 1985 and served as national counsel for numerous global auto manufacturers for over two decades. The love he shared with his friends and family was also bestowed upon his clients, who loved him dearly. Among his many talents, Bruce's love for golf topped the list. His passion for The Chicago Cubs came in a close second, and witnessing the Cubs win the World Series last November fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams. Quick with an Irish joke, Bruce was a master storyteller and could create rousing laughter in any ballroom, barroom or courtroom. And officially recognized by the province of Manitoba as a Northern Pike Specialist, Bruce was immensely proud of his skills as an angler, but only when his boys were by his side. By many, Bruce was considered an Abraham Lincoln expert, and had an intense knowledge of and love for this great man. There are no words to express our loss; he is irreplaceable to us all, and we will forever miss him. Visitation Thursday, May 11, 2017, 4:00-8:00 PM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Ministry Center, 36 N Ellsworth St., Naperville, IL 60540. Family and friends will meet Saturday, May 13, 9:30 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Wheatland Township Cemetery, Naperville, IL.
