Carol L. Bethke

Carol L. Bethke, R.N. of Elgin Carol L.Bethke, R.N., 66, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family. Carol was born June 22, 1944, in Elgin, the daughter of the late Wilbert C. and Elta M. (nee Nesler) Bierman. Carol was a lifelong resident of the Dundee-Elgin areas and was a 1961 graduate of Elgin High School. She attended the Lutheran General Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree. Later, she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing administration from the College of St. Francis. Carol worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Armond P. Bethke, to whom she was married on Oct. 16, 1964; and their children, Christine (Peter) Mrzlak of West Dundee, Jeffrey (Vicki) Bethke of West Dundee and Karen (Kristopher) Spenk of Carpentersville. Carol is also survived by her grandchildren, Jared, Emily and Jessica Mrzlak, Zachary Sumner and Jacob Bethke, and Adam, Evan and Megan Spenk; her brother, Robert Bierman of Elgin; her aunt, Ruth Elsner of East Dundee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Roger Bierman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St., East Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker, senior pastor, will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 16, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, at the church. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to either the Immanuel Lutheran Church Closer Campaign or the Immanuel Lutheran School. Arrangements were made by the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
