ELIZABETH GEORGEVICH Obituary

Elizabeth Rozelle Georgevich (our beloved Izzie) died on October 28, 2022, in Highland Park, Illinois. Raised in Anderson, Indiana, the only child of Clarence V. Rozelle and Marjorie Spencer Rozelle, she was a graduate of Forrest Hill Elementary School and Madison Heights High School (Class of 1955). After her first marriage, she made her way to California, where she met and married Steve Georgevich. They lived in Irvine, California and traveled the world for the next 17 years, until his death in 1995. Izzie became part of the blended family with Steve's five children, as well as their spouses and grandchildren. After Steve's death, Izzie spent years making annual trips from southern California to Deerfield, Illinois and/or Alameda, California to spend the holidays with her family members, and she relocated to the Chicago suburbs in 2015 to be near Dan and Meg and their family. Izzie (never grandma!) made Christmas come alive in Alameda and Deerfield. Every year she brought her knitted and crafted gifts: from Christmas sweatshirts depicting "Rudolph in the dark" and "Free the Elves" (long before JK Rowling) to embroidered Christmas stockings for each family member. She also cooked up a storm, and made her oyster stuffing and spinach salad every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was witty: after Steve told her at their first meeting that he piloted one of the Goodyear zeppelins she immediately replied that she was a zeppelin air hostess; and she named her cats after types of fish (Ahi and Ono). Izzie was competitive: she and Steve played cribbage and gin rummy while keeping score for the entire year, the loser of the daily game had to do the dishes after dinner. She also loved playing bridge. Izzie was an art lover: She and Steve collected many pieces throughout their travels, the more colorful, the better. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. in the Greenery Room at The Renaissance Hotel in Northbrook, Illinois.
