GEORGE CHRESANTHAKES Obituary

George F. Chresanthakes of Grayslake George F. Chresanthakes, 76, passed away on Sept. 10, 2012, after a long fight with cancer. George retired in 2005 from his successful food service distributing company, Bon-Bon Distributors. George was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, but his greatest joy was watching his daughters play grade school, high school and college sports, and then his grandchildren playing sports. George was married to Patricia (nee Dolas) and on Aug. 26, 2012, they celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by family and friends. George leaves his wife, Patricia; three children, Christine (Richard) of Gurnee, Georgia (Antonio) of Oak Creek, Wis. and Catherine (Phillip) of Naperville; five grandchildren, George and Anastasia Palmer, and Zachary, Alexandria and Oliva Sandoval; brother, Peter and sister-in-law, Anastasia and their sons, Triffon (Sophia) and Angelo; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Christine Chresanthakes. Visitation will be at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee on Friday, Sept. 14, from 4 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1400 N. O'Plaine Road, Libertyville on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 N. Thatcher Road, River Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 1400 N. O'Plaine Road, Libertyville, IL 60048 or to Mundelein High School's Girls' Athletic Department, in memory of George Chresanthakes, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein, IL 60060. Like a colleague and friend of mine said recently, "Mr. C was one of a kind!" I will truly miss him and his sense of humor. The northwest corner of the bleachers will be reserved each year on the first game of our basketball season for his memory because that is where you could always find Mr. C right before tip-off. He was a great fan and a great family man! Thanks Mr. C for the support and many fond memories...
