Hadessa Flora Obituary

Hadessa A. P. "Hadi" Flora of Batavia Family and friends of Hadessa A. P. "Hadi" Flora, 17, will gather to celebrate Hadi's life, at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening, Oct. 31, at Christ Community Church, St. Charles, corner of Randall and Bolcum Roads. One of Hadi's movies about Prayer will be featured in the service and thousands of her pictures and many of her other productions will be running concurrently throughout the reception to be held at church immediately following the service. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come to the service and to stay for the sharing afterward. Although they bear deep sorrow at her loss, Hadi's family are lifted by her life and faith and want to share both with everyone. Hadi died suddenly, Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Gone from sight but so very much alive in the hearts of hundreds, it could be said that Hadi didn't die, she just "graduated" early to Eternity. From the time she could run into her parents arms, she would, at the last moment, turn and fall back into them. Secure and safe in their love, she came to know that same security and love in Christ. Running through life on her last day, loved ones know that she surely turned at the last moment and fell backwards into the arms of her Savior, secure forever in the same love that she knew her entire lifetime. She was born, October 3, 1989, in St. Charles, and grew up in Batavia. In her middle school years, she set her heart on attending Wheaton Academy and worked hard to find a way to achieve her dream. Her prayers were answered and she was passionate about the school and about making the soccer team. Again with prayers, hard work and hours of practice with her dad, she became a starter and quickly earned the respect of her competitors. Hadi was a top student who also excelled at math and science -and fun. She loved her life, her family and boys! The model to whom she compared them was her brother, Lucas. It was his Batavia Bulldog jersey she wore proudly all over Wheaton and beyond. Parties and friends abounded at the Flora home and many others, but no matter where she went, her parents knew Hadi could hold her own against the temptations of life. No matter where her days took her, homecoming was almost always the same. Bursting into her parents room, she would collapse crazily on their bed and babble on and on about her crazy life; her wonderful, always hopeful, awesome life. Hadi will be remembered for the countless ways she touched the lives of others: at school, at church, at Rock River Christian Camp, at Barnes and Noble, on the soccer field and in circles of friends far and wide. In addition to her parents, Stephen and Sharon, and her brother Lucas, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Henry Wesley and Lois Ida Flora of Aurora; maternal grandparents, Betty Presti of New Rochelle, N.Y. and the late Mario Presti (Dec. 2005); paternal aunts and uncles, Hollie (Alan) Flora-Holmquist of Batavia, Robert (Marilyne) Flora of Nyon, Switzerland, and Heather (Stanley) Birnbaum of Bat-Yam, Israel; maternal aunts, Judy ( Rev. Steve) Gates of Jasper, Ind. and Susan (Isaac) Presti-Ali of Surprise, Ariz.; and all of her cousins, Amber and Jade and Garnet Flora-Holmquist, Linnann (Pascal) Muhlemann of Switzerland (and their children, Sedona and Zack, whom Hadi "nannied" last summer), Lisa (Brian) Hischier of Romeoville, Rachel, Wendy, Stephen, Andrew, Chaim Birnbaum and, Jessica and Stephanie Gates. In her lifetime, Hadi got to know and love three of her great-grandparents before they passed away, great-grandmas, Ronca, Presti and Lucy. A memorial has been established in Hadi's name to perpetuate her life message. Gifts may be made to the Hadessa Flora Memorial Fund in care of the Old Second Bank, 1991 West Wilson Street, Batavia, IL, 60510 or at any Old Second Bank. Tributes, memories or memorials may be mailed to the family directly, in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded through her obituary at www.conleycare.com. I did not know Hadi as well as I would have liked. However, in the time that I got to know her I was greatly encouraged and inspired by the way she spoke about the LORD. She diligently brought newcomers to our housegroup and she made the room brighter simply by walking through the doors. Always full of energy and eager to learn all she could about the FATHER and even more eager to share how HE had moved in her life over the previous week.

Lucas, my deepest condolences to you as you go through this time. I know how much Hadi loved you and looked up to you. She was so proud of you and talked about you constantly. She prayed for you daily and always wanted the best for you. Rest in the palm of HIS hands. HE needs her now...Stand firm in the faith and lean on HIM.

Hadi.

She made a simple hello seem like a greeting to a queen. She made singing seem like breathing. I loved every expierence she influenced in my life.

She will be missed by everyone who met her, especially the woman who carried her.

I love Hadi.

My son Rob is a senior at Wheaton Academy and met Hadi through her friend Emily.
I cannot imagine the devastating feeling of loss that you are experiencing but the service last night, like Hadis life, was a testimony to having a firm foundation and hope in the salvation of Jesus Christ.
The most powerful moment was when
Sharon came up at the end and related that in the midst of this overwhelming personal tragedy that her faith is unshaken and for any doubting teens questioning their faith that they should stand firm because as Sharon said , it is at times like this when the rubber meets the road - stand firm in your faith during lifes greatest storms.
My deepest condolences to your entire family but you have the peace of knowing that Hadi left a great legacy of love and caring and that you are assured of seeing her again. May God hold you in the palm
of His hand and comfort you.

Dear Sharon, Steve, and Lucas:

Attended the service last night and was just overwhelmed with how God had used Hadi and all of you to share the gospel with so many people. She may have been small, but her message was mighty. How convicting was that prayer video? How spirited and Spirit-filled was her Life video? Thank you for sharing so much of her and yourselves with our community. We praise God for her life, her example, and her wonderful family that all point to Jesus Christ and His saving work.

Mr. and Mrs. Flora:

I had the opportunity of getting to know your daughter at Christ Community Church. I am one of the head Ushers and Marilyne would often ask Hadi to help out. She always jumped in and was a joy to have around. She truly was a sweethart and just an all around great person.
May God comfort you in this time of sorrow. Heb 6:18 "We have this HOPE as an ANCHOR for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain where JESUS, who went before us, has entered on our behalf".

Steve and Sharon, although I never met Hadi, she must have been quite a young lady. Just reading through the remarks of those who were close, she has left a legacy. I feel a loss not being close to you Steve, my cousin, and your family. But I do know my God, and I know that He is a comforter to all that hold Him close, as you do. Your family was such a blessing to ours when we lost Mark, my brother many years ago. May God wrap His Loving Arms around you, in the persons of your friends and loved ones, may He whisper Peace to you. As Christians, we know we will see Hadi again one day. We love you guys, and we are keeping you in our prayers.

Dear Flora Family,
Please accept our family's deepest condolences on your terrible loss. You have been in our thoughts and prayers since we learned of the accident. While we trust that Hadi is at peace, our hearts just ache for you. My son, John, a senior at BHS, didn't know Hadi but he has many friends who did. As we arrived at musical rehearsal on Thursday, we were confronted with the tears and sadness of so many kids who loved Hadi, and our hearts broke for them, too. But through them, we learned about what a special person Hadi was. Though her own light has been extinguished much too early, we all must let a little of it burn in each of us to make the world a little brighter as she would have wished. May God's comfort and peace be with you and all those who mourn Hadi's loss.

Mr.and Mrs. Flora and Family,

We just wanted you to know how sorry we all are that Hadi is gone. She was a wonderful young lady who brought joy to everyone's lives that she came in contact with. We know she made a huge impact on those she touched at Rock River Christian Camp. When she spent her whole summer there because she loved the Lord, and she loved doing his work. The lives that have been changed by a loving girl who devoted her whole life to Christ, and who shared that joy with those who were lost. She loved and lived life to it's fullest.
She gave so much of herself to others. For she will always be the light of the world, who's light will never be put out in our hearts and minds of those who loved her. For now her light shines in heaven to light the way for others that she loved, and for those who love the Lord. We want you to know that our family is giving a gift to Rock River Christian Camp in memory of Hadi. We know that Hadi would of loved that, especially if she knew that it would bring one more child to Christ. Hadi will always be in our hearts especially Aaron's. For she was a true friend. He wants you to know that she will be missed next year at camp. May God bring you peace and comfort during this time. Our prayers are with all of you. God Bless.

Dear Mr. Flora, Mrs. Presti & Lucas-
Hadi is remarkable in so many ways. I have read many comments friends she marked and impacted left on her my space. Her devotion, passion, creativity and Godliness were well beyond her years. She will be loved forever as a sassy, spritely, wonderfully deep child of yours and God's. She left a legacy of belief and conviction. Hadi was a standard bearer and her light will shine on.

Our prayers for God's peace that passes all understanding are with your family now. We pray God will hold you so tightly you are imprinted in the cleft of His hand.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hadi will always live on in my memory as one of the most vibrant, loving people I've ever known. She was one of my best friends, and I'll never forget that week I spent at your house before school started.I can't thank you enough for providing me with that one last amazing memory of her. I will always remember her the way she was then, and I'll be praying for you.
