A Homegoing Celebration Remembering the Life of Mr. Eric DeWayne Oden, 30, of Talladega, will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Beavers officiating. Interment will commence immediately follow the services at Pine Hill Memorial Park. A public viewing for Mr. Oden will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. Eric DeWayne Oden was born on September 5, 1991 to parents Eric Scales and Marian Oden in Talladega, Alabama. Eric was educated in the Talladega City School System and was a graduate of Talladega High School Class of 2010. After completing high school, Eric worked various jobs and at the time of his passing, he was employed with Georgia Pacific. Eric was known to many as "J" and to some as "E.O." He enjoyed listening to music and playing his play station game, but most of all, Eric loved to eat! As he traveled his earthly journey, he became the proud father of a beautiful baby girl name, Amyrah. Eric not only loved his baby, but he loved spending time with his family, cousins and friends. Late Friday evening, April 29, 2022 Eric traded his earthly journey for eternal rest joining his father, Eric Scales, grandparents, Margaret Davis Campbell and Grant Oden, great-grandparents, Minnie Scales and Daisy Smoot and aunt, Edna McGhee. Eric leaves to cherish his loving memories, his baby girl, Amyrah Nix; devoted mother, Marian Elston; two sisters, Starr Elston of Birmingham and Shandricka Bivins of Carrollton, GA; loving grandparents, Kerry and Dorothy Lawson; great-grandmother, Dollie Frazier of Baltimore, MD; bonus brother, Jauntavious (Tasha) Curry; aunts, Landa Dale Oden of Anniston, Talisha (Ruben) McCartney of Tucker, GA, and Ann (Larry) Stone; uncles, LaBragg Kenyell Curry, Sr., Kerrick Curry and Tarrance Tanner of Brunswick, GA; special cousins, Erica McCartney, Kerrion Curry, LaBragg Kenyell Curry, Jr., Kentrell Curry, Tony Perkins and LaTonia Oden; special friend, Paris Beavers; best friends, SanTuan Jones, Jamal Curry, Zaid Buel, Jarum Castleberry, Ricardo Calhoun and Theodore Hendrix; and a host of other relatives and friends.
