LAKELAND - Rev. Kenneth D. McArthur, 83, of Lakeland passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his residence due to heart failure.
He was born December 31, 1925 in India to the late John Alexander & Anna Laura (Cleland) McArthur; he moved to Lakeland in 1995 from Lake Wales. He graduated from the Woodstock School in India, Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, Biblical Seminary in New York and the Pittsburgh-Xenia Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a former pastor at Garfield Blvd. United Presbyterian Church in Chicago, IL and the First United Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, IL. He was also an interim pastor at the Willow Creek Presbyterian Church in Caledonia, IL and an associate pastor of visitation at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Wales, FL.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Nancy McArthur; daughter, Debra Lynn McArthur Steffenhagen of Bolingbrook, IL; son, John Wilson McArthur of Moline, IL; step-son, Lawrence A. Woody of Lakewood, OH; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Lake Wales Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church, 1217 Shepherd Road, Lakeland, FL with Rev. Kent Adrian and Rev.
