Grant Wood Obituary

Grant S. Wood of Kennett Square Grant S. Wood died at Crosslands Communities, Kennett Square, on Saturday Feb. 9, 2013. Mr. Wood, age 86, was born in Philadelphia. He was raised in Glenside and then later lived in Dearborn, Mich., Surf City, N.J. and West Chester, PA. Grant was the son of the late Burton Grant (B.G.) Wood and Glennie Fuller Wood and the brother of the late William W. Wood II. Grant is survived by his wife, Doris Anne Wood; and daughters, Anne and Cheryl; and his loyal dog Kasper. He was a passionate sailor, golfer and gardener, and a life long student, eager to learn. He was above all else, proud of and devoted to his family. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Crosslands Communities, two days prior to Grant's 87th birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to West Chester University Foundation, P.O. Box 541 West Chester, PA 19381 to benefit the "Mathematics Endowment".

Dear Aunt D, Anne & Cheryl, Larry and I are so sad to hear about Uncle Grant's passing. He was certainly a big part of my life growing up (as Aunt D was too!). I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories of him. With Uncle Grant being gone from us now, it leaves a huge void in our hearts. Please know we're thinking about you and sending our prayers and good thoughts your way, as well as our sympathy. All our love, Suzanne & Larry
