Leone Harris Milliner

Leone Harris Milliner, aged 98, of Pocopson, Twp., PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home, on Friday, December 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Charles Cornelius Harris, born 1887 in Centreville MD, and Euva Clare Spencer, born 1889 in Richwood WV. Her father was a Methodist pastor on Maryland’s eastern shore from 1917 until his death in 1952. Her mother was a strong spiritual influence on those around her until her death in 1985. Leone held a lifelong love for music, which she instilled in her children and all those around her. She loved the farm, where she lived with her family from July 1956 until her death. During her long and active life, she taught music in the public schools in Philadelphia, worked at the Dravo shipyard during World War II, led the church choir at Willowdale Chapel in Unionville PA, raised sheep, and welcomed many people to the farm in Pocopson Township PA for musical and spiritual uplift and inspiration. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Samuel Adkins Milliner, Jr., born 1911, her brother, Charles O. Harris, born 1923, and her sister, Leila Gertrude Harris Teoli, born 1926. She is survived by 5 children, Dr. Eric K. Milliner (Dawn), Kim Harris Milliner, Samuel Lee Milliner (Naomi), Alan Spencer Milliner (Carol) and Clare L. Milliner (Walt Koken), as well as 8 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter, Iris Leone Milliner, born July 3, 2016. Visitation for friends and family will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, starting at 9AM with Sharing of Remembrances at 10AM at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington DE 19808.
