Edmond Lindsey Obituary
Edmond's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a steadfast member of Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church, guided by the Reverend B. D. Rushing.
He received his education in the public schools in Greenwood, Mississippi.
Edmond's love for his family was unwavering. He and his beloved wife, Mattie Mae Lindsey, were married on October 19, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. Their union was marked by devotion and care.
He worked for many years at Schlitz Brewery beginning in 1972.
Edmond joined Brown Baptist Church in 2007 and served on the Usher Board and the Parking Ministry until he became disabled. Prior to that, he was actively involved in community affairs – seeking fair elections, assisting the elderly with personal errands, and preparing & delivering weekly meals to the elderly.
The Lord called Edmond home on April 16, 2024. Edmond was preceded in death by both parents: four sisters, Mattie Maurice Leflore, Edna Earl Campbell, Bertha Birch, and Alice Dean Spencer; three brothers, Samuel Lindsey, Terry Lindsey, and L.C. Lindsey; and one granddaughter, Capricia R Lindsey.
Edmond leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mattie; his daughters, Melita Lindsey, Danita R Bennett, and Alicia J Lindsey; and grandsons, Brandon Michael Carruthers, Brian Lindsey Bennett, and Bruce Bennett, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Gloria Lindsey (Sam); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Lindsey......and Family, I think that Ed and I lived a brotherly life, and we did so much for each other. We were each others leaning post, we acted in every way like brothers.....and that says a lot, we could depend on each other in every way. We always disagreed on who was the others boss, he always felt he won, smile. Mom love him so much and he love Mom, he was my assistant caretaker, and he never shirked that post. I shall never forget the things he did and the things he help me get over. May he rest in peace, he has finally Made it home...... 3 score plus 10 plus 7 ???. wow.

Alicia, grief and sorrow are extremely hard for anyone to experience and understand. You have special and important memories that Mr. Luckett was able to create and share with not only you, but your entire family. Hold on to those memories, that is the best way that he can always stay close in your mind and in your hearts. He fought for voter rights and helped place his special mark on changing lives for equality. When the stars shine, know that he is there looking down on each of you. When the wind blows, know that he blowing each of you a kisses from heaven. You each are safe in the arms of God. Alicia, your dad built a foundation and blueprint for your entire family. He did what was right at a time when it was needed. God is going to give you guidance through this time.
