Cathy Lyon Obituary
Cathy Lynn Bates Lyon, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at her residence. She was a member of The Upper Room Church in Riceville, where she served as the pianist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Geraldine Hatfield Bates. She is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Lyon; and a daughter, Andrea Brewer (Clifford Jr.) The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, at Hillcrest Church of God, with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Caleb Leamon and Pastor Zach Davis officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Clifford Brewer, Nick Thompson, Jared Ghorley, Carol Dean Bates and Aaron Womac will serve as pallbearers. If you are unable to attend the visitation or funeral service, sign the online registry at www.zieglerfuneralhome.com Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens has been entrusted with serving the family of Cathy Lynn Bates Lyon.
