Leon Bennett Obituary
in 1953 with the rank of Sergeant and joined the United States Army. In the Army he served in Vietnam and Korean wars.
Following his retirement, Master Sergeant Bennett became a member of Civilian Personnel staff, Fort Eustis, Virginia.
Cherishing the love in memory are wife, Bettie Rhodes Bennett (Newport News), children Leon III (Atlanta, Ga); Angela McBride (Freddie) Louisville, Ky; Obadiah (Newport News); seven grandchildren -Tawatha Wansley; Nicole McBride-Fields; Rene Bennett-McCoullough (Tyrone); Leon Maceo Bennett; Troy Bankard, Obadiah R Bennett III, and Nia Bennett; two great grandchildren – Jazmyn Fields and Xavier McBride.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, 251 Ruchneck Rd. Newport News VA 23608. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, with an interment with full military honors immediately thereafter at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

I am so grateful to have met Mr. Bennett and Bettie just by chance never guessing we would become such close friends.
Mr. Bennett and his warm and engaging smile will certainly be missed. I won't forget the lessons I learned just watching the two of them. They personified the beauty of the marriage vows. Even after 60 plus years of marriage, the beam was still there eyes!
So Betti, may you and the family take comfort in the many
wonderful memories you have of your husband, your dad, your grandpa.
