RUTH G. JARVIS

Ruth Carnell Graves Jarvis 88, a resident of Norfolk, VA departed this life on August 5, 2022. Ruth was a native of Littleton/Sussex County VA and was a retired Dean for Student Development at Norfolk State University. Mrs. Jarvis worked tirelessly in her church and the Hampton Roads Community. Some of Mrs. Jarvis' civic memberships included: The Woman's Club of Norfolk, past president of Norfolk State Retirees Association, Norfolk Community Services Board/Board Chairman, founding member of CAI Parent and Consumer Team, (PACT), and a Golden member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.Ruth Graves Jarvis is survived by her husband, Rueben F. Jarvis, Sr. of 65 years and children: Ruthel L. Goss, Regina L Stowe (Ron), Rueben Jarvis, Jr. (Chantel), and Rodney F. Jarvis. Mrs. Jarvis' public viewing will take place on Monday, August 15, 2:00-6:00 PM, followed by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Ceremony at Graves Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 12:00 noon, Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, 7036 Chesapeake Blvd. Norfolk, VA . Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
