John Hall Obituary

HALL III., John Patrick John Patrick Hall, III, lost a brief and courageous battle against leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, on August 3, 2017 with his loving family by his side. John was born on February 20, 1963 in Washington, D.C. to Carol Fraser Hall and John Patrick Hall, Jr. As an infant, he moved with his parents to Brussels, Belgium, for two years before the family returned home to Dallas. John was educated at St. Michael's School, Greenhill School and graduated from the Kent School in Kent, CT. He was particularly proud of his Varsity letter in Crew, a legendary sport at Kent. It was at Greenhill and Kent where his passion for theater was cultivated and enriched his life. He is a graduate of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, with a major in theater. Following graduation, John worked on several movies and toured with music groups before establishing his own company. John will be remembered for his independence, sense of humor, kindness to others, and time and commitment to his children's activities, mostly the Boy Scouts of America, where he was Eagle Scout Coordinator and Advancement Chair for the North Star District and Shooting Sports Staffer for the National Scout Jamboree. He has received the District Award of Merit, the highest volunteer recognition. He has been the Aquatics Coach for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Cyclones Special Olympics sports teams. An enthusiastic Instructor and Master Scuba Diver, John loved his frequent diving trips to Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Belize. John was predeceased by his father, John Patrick Hall, Jr. and grandparents, Maurine Still Hall and John Patrick Hall (Sr.) and Veronica Molloy Fraser and William C. Fraser. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Amy Baughman Hall and his children, Madeleine Anne and John Patrick, IV; his mother, Carol Fraser Hall; his sister, Jessica Elizabeth Hall; uncles David Reed Hall; and Michael Fraser (Helene); and many cousins and countless friends. A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church at 8011 Douglas Avenue on Tuesday, August 8 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please honor John's life with a gift to a scholarship fund in his name to Kent School, P.O. Box 2006, Kent, CT 06757 or to Carrollton-Farmers Branch Cyclones Special Olympics, c/o Julia Scott, 2017 Grenoble Drive, Carrollton, TX 75007.

Was sorry to read in the Kent Quarterly about John's passing last August. I was a classmate of his when he was at Kent School. I do remember him well as always being a kind and fun person to be around. My condolences to his family.

We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our former neighbor, John P. Hall. He blossomed from an impish boy into an awesome husband, father, son, and brother. We are buoyed by the certainty that his amazing leadership skills will inspire the fortunate youth whose lives he touched. Amy, Carol, Jessica, Madeline, and John, you are in our thoughts as we join you in grief and pray for your John. Warmly, Anne P. Boyd and family
