Arthur DAVIS Obituary
News Death Notice
DAVIS, Arthur Was born March 5, 1946, in Red Jacket, West Virginia, to the late John Charlie Davis and Katherine Reid Davis. He departed this life on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Veterans Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Arthur was educated in the public schools of West Virginia, graduating from Matewan High School, Matewan, West Virginia. Arthur attended Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, and Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He actively served in the United States Air Force. Arthur never forgot his Christian training as a child growing up in West Virginia. He found comfort in church and attended until he became disabled. He was a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Davis, Jr., and three sisters, LaEunice Williams, Oneaster Davis Drummer and Ruth Davis. Arthur leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Corrine P. Davis-Joyner (AL) of Charleston, Illinois; Essie Mae Davis of Newman, Georgia and Linda Sue Davis of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sybil Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, John Ed Davis of Los Angeles, California and George Davis (Rose) of Columbus, Ohio; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, 3317 Hoover Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, with Pastor Gerald A. Cooper officiating. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery, with military rites at graveside.
