Family-Placed Obituary

LIGHT, Betsy Jane age 78, died on Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Miami Valley hospital. Betsy was born on August 27, 1926 in Hagerstown, Maryland, daughter of her beloved parents, the late Omer M. and Naomi R. Harbaugh. Following a childhood filled with many happy memories, she earned a scholarship to attend Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. After graduation she married Richard M. Light and they settled in Dayton, OH to raise their family. Betsy worked as a librarian at the Northtown and Huber Heights branches and was well-known for over 20 years. She maintained a life-long passion for books and reading that continued to the last days of her life. In addition to books, Betsy enjoyed travel, her garden, many friends and her beloved cats. A breast cancer survivor for over 25 years, she later maintained many active friendships through cancer survival groups. She is survived by her children, Thomas Light, Barbara Light, David Light and John Light; her grandchildren Emmet Light, Abigail Groskopf, Elizabeth Keaveny, Sarah Light and Ricardo Light. Betsy is missed by her family and continues to inspire them by her ideas and example. At her request, there will be no service. Following cremation, Betsy will be interred with her parents in Hagerstown, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Bradford - Connelly & Glickler Funeral Home, Dayton, handling arrangements.

I am thankful for all the love and happiness Betsy gave to each of us over the years. She made life better for all of us who came into contact with her. What a great person.
