POHLE, Catherine Jean (Fritzsche) age 79 of Dayton, beloved wife and mother passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter O. and Alta Mae Fritzsche and her brother Walter O. Fritzsche Jr. She is survived by Robert, her loving husband of 59 years, her children Pastor Robert G. and wife Gabriela Pohle, Rebecca S. and husband Dr. Steve Daugherty, Barry R. and wife Cheryl Pohle, Candace J. and husband Ken Tifft, William B. and wife Irmgard Pohle; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother Jack and wife Barbara Fritzsche; sisters Barbara and husband Tom Hofacker, Dr. Peggy Fritzsche and husband Dr. Tony Hasso; and sister-in-law Luella Fritzsche; and a host of other relatives and friends. Jean was a 1944 graduate of Fairview High School and received her Certificate of Nursing in 1949 and her BS in Nursing Education in 1959. She was employed at Grandview Hospital in nursing education for 10 years. She was a retired founder of Kettering Medical Center after 18 years of service as the Director of Continuing Education and assistant director of nursing education. She served on numerous professional organizations including Ohio Nursing Board of Directors , American Nurses Association, and 1st Woman President of the Local Chapter of the National Management Association. She was an Auxiliary member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 31 and the Centerville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Centerville Seventh-Day Adventist Church 456 W. Spring Valley Pike, with Pastor Winston Baldwin officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd. Interment at the David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spring Valley Academy.
