News Death Notice

REID, Donald Eugene "Red-Eye" 74, of Dayton, passed away Saturday Sept. 20, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Mr. Reid was born in Dayton on June 6, 1934 to Lonnie & Marie (Wertz) Reid. He was a Dayton Fire Fighter for 30 years, former owner of the Northtown Bar, U.S Navy veteran of the Korean War, member of American Legion #613 & the Brookville AmVets. Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Isabel "Sue" (Rose) Reid; sons & daughters-in-law, Doug & Cindy, Denny & Kim, D. Patrick, Dale & Tonya Reid; grandchildren, Jessica Reid Waldman, Tyler Reid, Brock Reid, Dane Reid & Jordan Reid; brothers & sisters-in-law, Dale & Sue, Dan & Cecilia Reid; numerous other relatives & friends. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, "North Dayton Chapel", 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Interment Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service Tuesday at the George C. Martin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be left for the family at www.georgecmartinfuneralhome.com

Sue and family: I just found out about Mr. Reid's passing this morning- I am so sorry to hear this! He was a great man, and I hold dear the memories of my childhood growing up down the street and later working with him on insurance. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

To Sue & Family, Don and I were friends for over 30 yrs. He was one of the best Firefighters I ever had the privilege of knowing. Myself & my family enjoyed the many years Don coached the Dayton Firefighters softball team. We will cherish the memories always!
