News Death Notice
MORELAND, Lawrence "Larry" D. Born in Dayton, OH to the late James H. Moreland, Sr. and the late Ethelrine C. Craft-Moreland. He has resided in Manhattan in New York for more than 30 years. His gentle Spirit passed away peacefully on June 10, 2012 after a courageous battle with Multiple-Myeloma. He was employed as Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration with W.T. Grant Foundation. He leaves to cherish his memory an eternally loving sister, Gloria Moreland-Davenport of Nashville, TN; brother James H. Moreland, Jr. (Dimple) of Prentiss, MS; niece Jameka Moreland; nephews Andre Davenport, II and Jeremy Whitt; great-niece Jaria Fitts and great-nephew Asaiah Davenport all of Dayton, OH; an aunt Carrie Jackson of TN, a host of beloved cousins and numerous dear friends and colleagues. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at The Crestwood Memorial Chapel, 199 Bleecker Street, NY, 10012. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple-Myeloma Research Foundation (http://www.themmrf.org/) in his memory are appreciated.

I want to express our deepest, heartfelt gratitude to everyone for sharing your kind, thoughtful and sincere memories of our Brother Larry with us. We truly appreciate it - it's so really consoling for us to read. We are continuing to Lean on the Lord for strength, understanding and guidance during this challenging and confusing time. It was unexpected losing Larry so suddenly. We humbly solicit your continued prayers for the Moreland Family. May God continue to Bless and Keep each one of you -- you are dear to us.

I had the pleasure of doing business with Larry for the past 2 years, and I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was an incredibly intelligent and kind man that I will miss working with dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Larry.

I'm still in somewhat of a shock at Larry's untimely passing. Truly an outstanding person and close friend. His intellect, philanthropy, love of life, compassion and professionalism will always be remembered. I regret that I won't be able to debate with him the great issues of the day. Truly, gone too soon.

Larry was one of the first people I met at Indiana University and he is in the center of any pleasant memory that I have of my college years. I marveled at his intellect and appreciate his heart. We kept in touch over the years and I will miss his uncanny way of calling just when I needed to hear a soft, sweet voice. Larry lived in my heart for over 39 years and he fondly will be in my memory for all time to come. Sweet peace to you my friend!
