News Death Notice

TOMCZAK, Lucille (nee Nagy) Born July 11, 1924 passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015, surrounded by her family. After graduating from Toledo Waite high school in 1942, she joined Jerry Fodor's orchestra as a vocalist and toured the country entertaining US troops fighting in WWII. In 1946 she married Louis Tomczak who eventually became Circulation Manager for the Toledo Times then Toledo Blade and preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father the former Sgt. John Nagy of the Toledo Police Department and her mother Virginia Ignasiak Nagy. She is survived by her two children, Dr. Rodney Tomczak, retired from the Orthopaedic Department at Ohio State University and married to Gretchen. Lucille has one daughter Nadine McCoy, who teaches at Our Lady of the Rosary Elementary School in Dayton, Ohio. She is married to Hal McCoy former writer for the Dayton Daily News and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Grandchildren include Meghan, Lauren and Chad, married to Rion. She is also survived by her relatives Sharon Lajiness of Erie. MI and her family and Susan Ignasiak Brockway and nephews, Tom and Larry Tomczak of Toledo. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 9:00 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 22 Notre Dame Avenue, Dayton. Respects may be paid at 8:30am until time of Mass. Entombment will be at Toledo Memorial Park and Mausoleum 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH. In lieu of any flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Our Lady of the Rosary School, 40 Notre Dame Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45404 or the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, 2043 Parkside Avenue, Toledo, OH, 43607.
