My sympathies to the entire Van Schaik family. Most of you do not know me but I knew Pat when she worked at UD and always enjoyed her sense of humor. She encouraged me to apply for her position when she retired in 1990. I did, got hired, and continued to work in the MIS Dept until 2012 when I retired. I will never forget her encouragement and patience in trying to teach me the job in just three days! She was a wonderful lady who loved her family very much. My prayers are with all of you as you mourn her death.

To all the Van Schaiks, We are so sorry for your loss. I always loved getting parenting advice from your mom when our kids were really little, it was always funny and helpful! She had the best sense of humor and always had something nice to say to everyone. Your mom was truly one of those people you meet in life that left a lasting impression because of her kindness and good nature. Your mom (and your dad) gave us a Pre-Cana weekend as a wedding gift and it was certainly a special and memorable gift. We think of her when we look back on that weekend. We hope that all of your wonderful memories will help you through this sad time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Stevie and Pat Donahue and family

My best memories in this life involve Indian Lake, and the Van Schaiks are a big part of those memories--particularly Pat's laugh. Your big family was an inspiration to me, and I'm sure your big family is a consolation in these tough times. May God bless you with peace.

I have so many memories of Aunt Pat. As I think of her I can see her smile and hear her laugh and the face and arm gestures she used as she told a story. For some reason I get the feeling the Begley's on the other side are having a party and telling stories right now as Aunt Pat has arrived! Thoughts and Prayers to you all! I know this is a very difficult time for you! With Much Love Anita Jagt and Family

Dear John,
Bill and I send our sincere condolences to you and your entire family. Pat was a ray of sunshine and a model of faith for me many times in our acquaintance. From Bergamo to babysitters the Van Schaik family demonstrated humor and confidence to my family. The laughter and faith she shared were tonic to many. May the Precious Blood of Jesus surround, defend, and protect all of you at this difficult time.
