Larry Dean Clemons was born December 3, 1957, at Harlan, IA, the son of Vincent and Alice Clemons. He passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at his home at rural Manilla, IA, at the age of 60.
Larry was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Irwin, IA. He was a 1976 graduate of Irwin-Kirkman High School and then continued his education by taking college courses for business construction. On March 14, 1980, Larry was united in marriage to Deette Anderson at a family home near Lewis, IA, and they were blessed with the birth of three children.
He was employed at the water treatment plant in Irwin until 1988, then began his employment with Kenny Buck at Alfonso Construction which later became known as Ten Point Construction, doing construction and mechanical work. He was still employed at Ten Point at the time of his death.
Larry was a member of the fire department and of Pheasants Forever. In his leisure time, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, building things and listening to Shania Twain and AC/DC. He was particularly close to his grandchildren and wanted to teach them something with a smile and enjoyed watching them play on the farm. He was very proud of his redheaded grandchild with spunk. Larry was passionate about everything and gave it his all. He wanted to care for others and not to be cared for.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Vincent.
Survivors include his wife, Deette; his children, Amy and her husband, Saul, Jennifer and her husband, Carlos, and Larry; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Alice; one brother, Dale; one sister, Carole and her husband, Ron; one sister-in-law, Ann; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at First Assembly of God in Harlan with Pastor Al Hazelton officiating. Worship leader Pastor Matt Andersen provided the message in music. The family invited everyone to the fellowship hall for fellowship and lunch provided by the Women's Ministries.
