Dorothy B. Johnson

Dorothy B. Johnson, age 91, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Mrs. Johnson was a member and faithful worker with Salem and Hockessin United Methodist Churches and loved teaching Sunday School. She was talented with all that she did and always did it with perfection. She enjoyed cooking, painting, sewing and creating beautiful flower arrangements. Mrs. Johnson cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Diehl and husband Wallace; son, Lawrence B. Dean; sister, Margaret Neil; granddaughter, Tara Papanicolas and husband Andy; and great grandchildren, Halie and Andrew Christopher Papanicolas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Johnson, and former husband, Lawrence B. Dean Sr.; brother, Clifford Baldwin; sister, Mary B. Osborne; and grandson, Christopher Diehl.

The family would like to thank the staff at Little Sisters of the Poor for the compassionate care given to Dorothy and her family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 12, in Salem United Methodist Church, 469 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 10-11 am followed by a service in celebration of Dorothy's life at 11 am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Salem United Methodist Church.
