Age 92, of Townsend, DE, formerly of New Castle, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, after a protracted struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Hinton, known to family and friends as "Sis", was a graduate of St. Peter's High School and attended Beacom College, now known as Goldey-Beacom College, for several years. She worked in Wilmington as an executive secretary and bookkeeper, combining her business career with that of mother and homemaker. She was a devout Catholic. Before succumbing fully to the ravages of Alzheimer's, she attended daily mass at St. Peter's Church in New Castle for many years. She was an avid reader and a frequent visitor at the New Castle Library. She loved to walk and spent many pleasant hours strolling the streets of her native city, especially in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Hinton, Sr.; her parents, Peter and Catherine McBride; and her brothers, James McBride and the Rev. Charles McBride, S.J. She is survived by 3 sons, Joseph, of Townsend, Charles, of Houston, TX, and Peter, of Charlotte, NC; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and cousins.
There will be no viewing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Saturday, February 11th, at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle, DE 19720, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Peter's Work Force, c/o St. Peter's Church.
