Five years ago, as I was deciding which class I would attend, I happened to sit down next to Vivian in the Osher lobby. We chatted for a bit, and I asked her what class she was going to attend. Vivian explained that she would be presenting her first memoir, and she was a bit nervous. She volunteered that she was 95 years old, and this was the first time she had shared a memoir. At that moment my decision was clear. I had to hear her words, and I did. She didn't disappoint, and I was enriched by the experience. I didn't know Vivian well, but we exchanged pleasantries thereafter. My take-a woman of dignity, beauty and intellect. A truly unique individual, who I am glad to have known. I will miss her smile and seeing her at Osher, as will so many others.

Vivian was a beautiful and intelligent lady. She was an inspiration to all her classmates at the "Write Now" course at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. We will miss her well-written and thoughtful compositions. Vivian was a delight to know.
