DELAWARE — Donald L. Evans, 81, of Delaware, and formerly of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Kobacker House, Columbus.
He was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 13, 1937, son of the late James T. and Josephine J. (Richardville) Evans. Don grew up in Monroe and graduated from the Monroe High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1958 and was stationed on the aircraft carrier, named the USS Yorktown. Don then returned to Michigan and went into food sales where he worked for many years and had become President of Food Sales at Tagmar. While living in Michigan, Don became a huge Michigan football fan. He also loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and playing golf.
Don was God loving and was loved by so many people. He was a people person and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a pillar of strength to his family. In 2005, he married Sally Rodman (Ritz) Hoel, and moved to Hilliard, and then in 2007 moved to Delaware. He was a faithful and active member of Delaware Grace Brethren Church and then the Northwest Chapel in Dublin.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sally Rodman (Ritz) Hoel; sons, Todd Evans and Troy (Tami) Evans, both of Michigan and step-sons, Scott (Jodi) Hoel and Mark Hoel; grandsons, Benjamin Evans and his fiancé, Kendra and Brandon (Crickett) Evans; one great granddaughter, Addilyn Rose Evans; a sister, Pat Fields and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents that have preceded him in death was his first wife, Phyllis in 2000; and a sister in infancy.
A memorial service celebrating Don's life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 4 p.m., in the Compelled Church, 8970 Jackman Road, Temperance, MI 48182. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date here in Ohio.

Dear Sally and family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Don. We enjoyed talking with him at the Y.M.C.A. about his love of golf, hunting , his cabin in Michigan and his family. We were hoping that he could have overcome his illness.
Sadly you are separated from him for now, but know that somewhere in time... you shall meet again.
Take care, our thoughts and prayers are with you,
Steve and Lisa Leech
