Marion Shipps Obituary

Marion (Hubbart) Shipps of Nashua, N.H., died on Friday (Nov. 9, 2012) at the Hunt Community in Nashua.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., on May 16, 1914, she spent her early years with her family in Delaware. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Phi Beta Kappa.
Mrs. Shipps and her husband Frazier Shipps, whom she married in 1938, lived in Simsbury, Conn., for more than 40 years. She taught history at Simsbury High School, and she was a former board member of the Simsbury Visiting Nurse Association and a member of the Charter Revision Commission in Simsbury.
Besides her husband, Frazier, she leaves a daughter, Nancy Shipps Proulx of Nashua; two sons, David Shipps of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark Shipps of Dublin; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her sisters, Faith Hubbart Shier and Nancy Hubbart Baird, predeceased her.
Funeral and burial services are to be private. There will be a memorial service conducted by the Rev. James Chaloner at the First Church, 1 Concord St., Nashua, at a future date.
The family suggests, instead of flowers, memorial contributions to the Hubbart/Shipps Scholarship Endowment c/o The Mowry Alumni Center, Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH 43015 or the scholarship fund of the Hunt Community, 10 Allds St., Nashua, NH 03060.
