Jean Monroe Obituary

Jean Robertson Monroe

Princess Anne - Jean Robertson Monroe of Princess Anne, MD passed away in her sleep at home on Sunday March 7, 2021, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jean is survived by her brother Walter Robertson of Norwich NY, daughter Donna Carey, son Chris Monroe, daughter in law Caroline Monroe, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George Monroe, Son's Hugh Monroe and David Monroe.

Jean was born in Auburn, NY on August 6, 1932 to Walter and Cornelia Robertson. She lived in upstate New York until 1970 when she and her husband George relocated to Snow Hill, MD. She was the director of Worcester County Commission on Aging for the state of Maryland until her retirement in 1998. They settled at their quiet home in Princess Anne, on the Chesapeake Bay in 1988.

Jean loved being surrounded by family and friends at her country home, a breathtaking place on the water. Her family generations grew up together, making wonderful memories during holiday gatherings and family reunions. Most afternoons, when the weather was good, she could be found sitting in her gliding chair down by the water, reflecting and watching the sunset. She enjoyed trying new things and taking trips with family.

An all-family memorial service will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Coastal Hospice.

Words often are empty, and often lost without feeling.

Ms. Monroe was a Rock Star.

By far one of the nicest people who I have ever met in my 60+ years on God´s earth.

Her laugh, her humor, and her personality were utterly amazing.

She was a serious, kind, compassionate, and grounded woman who had a way of making total strangers feel like family.

You will be missed Mom Monroe.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being a small part of your amazing life. Love you and your entire family.

God bless the entire family.
