James Schuler Obituary
Schuler, James
Canandaigua: James Schuler, born on August 28, 1946 -- December 10, 2016, passed away at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. Jim enjoyed sharing his home with his wife and two dogs in South Bristol, New York.
Survived by wife, friend, Mary (Engel) Schuler. Brother Jerry. Son Zachary Schuler (Heather). Daughter, Jessica (Adam) Summermatter. Grandchildren, Christian & Lexy Schuler; Ethan & Emmagrace Summermatter. Nieces and special nephew, Tim Schuler. Employer, Anthony, Chris & Steve DiMarzo, Tradesman, Spiro Yannas, James Mangoria, Peter Putz, Jim Urich, and friends too numerous to mention Pete Colucci...and others, golf league buddies, Jim Hartz, Jim Chase, Ron Garner, salesmen, product suppliers, and tradespeople.
Having served on the USS Aeolus Arc 3 as a fireman/electrician-mate from 1966-1969, Jim's duties as EM3 helped keep the USS Aeolus in safe and working condition for his fellow crew mates.
Jim was a dedicated 32-year employee of Mark IV Construction Co., Inc as an electrician. He quickly gained the respect of his managers due to his calm, diligent demeanor and incredible work ethic. Climbing ranks throughout his career, Jim was promoted to manage the entire electric division after the passing of his mentor, the late Edmund Catalano. Jim often went over and above to ensure quality, accuracy and efficiency; a mantra he lived by, both at home and in the office until his retirement in December of 2015.
A strong man physically and emotionally, Jim was the right man for many jobs due to his skills, principles and fortitude. Always full of sarcasm and intelligent wit, Jim was always quick to poke fun at anyone while simultaneously maintaining their respect. An avid outdoorsman and a true craftsman, Jim didn't settle for second place.
Confident and indifferent, Jim led and taught his crews in the manner he ran his life; with respectful diligence and efficiency. He often reminded his team when preparing for a job or meeting that: "early is on time, on-time is late, and late is unacceptable, ok." We are thankful for everything Jim has taught us, the many hours learning from him, the laughter he evoked, his strong will and his strange passion for The Cleveland Browns; he will not be forgotten. No task too big or small, Jim tackled every request with his quiet and determined demeanor and always got the job done.
Heart felt gratitude to the staff of The Thompson Health Center especially those on the 3rd floor, East Wing for Jim's considerate care during his last few weeks with us.
