Charles Kline Obituary
Charles was born on January 28, 1947, in Winchester, the son of Charles L. "Buck" Kline and Ettis O. Kline. He graduated from Handley High School, Class of 1966. Charles was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. He then continued his education, focusing on teaching others, which was one of his special gifts. He first taught school in Henrico County, VA. Later he taught school in Lunenburg County and eventually was appointed the General Supervisor of Education for Lunenburg County, VA. Charles later moved to the Eastern Shore and accepted a position as Superintendent of Schools in Accomack County, VA. He decided to change careers and went back to school receiving his law degree. He lived and practiced law in Lake Worth, FL, for over 15 years. He recently moved to Chattanooga and opened a new practice. Charles always remained committed to helping others, and his bright personality allowed him to touch the hearts of many.
Charles was the beloved husband of Ellen Kline. He met Ellen in October 2000. She was a student in some of his law classes in Lake Worth, FL. Charles and Ellen were married on June 1, 2007. Charles is survived by his wife Ellen and her daughters, Caitlin Nichole Shu and Cherleanne Morgan Shu and son, Christopher Michael Shu of Chattanooga, TN; his sons, Charles Matthew Kline and Trip Baisden of Richmond, VA; his daughters, Lindsey Margaret Kline of Lake Worth, FL, and Ashley K. Burnette of Rochester, NY; his grandchildren, Harrison A. Baisden, Remington A. Baisden and Kennedy Burnette; Gene Kline of Richmond, VA, mother of his children; his sisters, Carla Kline Baker and her sons David C. Baker and Michael L. Baker of Winchester, VA and Ina Rae Kline Crisman and her husband Timothy S. Crisman and daughter Samantha L. Crisman of Strasburg, VA; his nephews Charles Lynwood Kline of Winchester.
Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles L. and Ettis O. Kline; his brother, Lynwood M. "Woody" Kline; and nephew Karl Frederick Kline.
Pallbearers are "Boo" Snider, Bill Hall, Danny Hoopes, Ben Dick, Matt Kline and Trip Baisden. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Myers, Bobby Schenck, Paul Milton, James Baden, Freddie Cather, Tim Crisman, Bill Preston, and Lewis Hannah.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on East Washington St. in Strasburg. A reception will be held immediately following at the home of Charles' sister, Ina Rae Crisman at 170 W. Queen Street, Strasburg, VA.

Mr. Kline was my employer and friend since 2000. He will be greatly missed. He was very kind and generous to me and my children. He was always there for me whenever I needed his opinion or advice. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Mr. Kline was one of my instructors, and a wonderful mentor while I was finishing my Bacherlor's degree. He truly made me feel as though my education was just as important to him as it was to me. Although, I have not seen Mr. Kline over the last couple of years, he often comes to mind and I feel blessed to have been able to know him while he was on God's earth. He will truly be missed. Charlie was a great guy and a truly caring lawyer. He took the problems of his clients to heart and never let financial motives become primary. He never left a doubt in anyone's mind as to his integrity or commitment. He will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I only knew Charlie briefly, but his nephews, Charles and Karl are my brothers. Woody took us to visit Charlie and his family once many years ago. I remember that he was very friendly.
Again, I am sorry for your loss, and I am praying for peace and comfort in your time of sorrow.
