Geneve Plummer Obituary

Geneve Taylor Plummer 1909 ~ 2007 "Do good, stay well, and keep in touch," Geneve always told her friends and family. She was born on November 29, 1909 in Fox Creek, Idaho to Albert Ether and Dora Brinton Taylor, and was raised on the family ranch. Geneve was a graduate of the University of Utah. She married Joseph "Harry" Plummer on October 11, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a longtime resident of Cedar City, Utah and taught Children's Literature and Communications at Southern Utah University. Her ambition was to help her students succeed and many expressed their gratitude for her teaching. Geneve had a lifelong love of literature, quilted and sewed (pajamas for Christmas!), kept a grand garden, was an excellent cook, and frequently provided in-depth canning lessons. She loved nature, was a good whistler, and enjoyed taking in fall colors on drives with friends in Cedar Canyon. Geneve was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization. Geneve struggled with macular degeneration in her later years, but her perseverance in enjoying life was inspiring. Geneve had boundless energy and could out-work anybody! "If anything is worth doing, it's worth doing well," she would say. Geneve passed away November 20, 2007 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 97. She is survived by her three children Marilyn (Theron) Rose, David (Lousie) Plummer, and Douglas (Kristine) Plummer. She has 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and extended family who love and admire her courage. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Park Lane Ward Meeting House in Centerville. Interment will be Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar City Cemetary.

Dear Marilyn & family,
So sorry to see your mom's obituary in today's paper. We wish we would have known soon enough to be able to attend the viewing or funeral.
Your mom was an inspiration to all of us. We remember her keen mind and amazing attention to detail. She certainly left a legacy of love of learning and literature to you and your children. You, in turn, blessed us by sharing your favorite literature with us.
We love you!

Dear Marilyn, David, and Doug, I'm so sorry about your mother's passing. She was the last of the family connnected with my father, and she leaves a deep and wide hole. I remember childhood times when Uncle Harry and Aunt Geneve and Marilyn--and later "the twins" would come to visit. They were good days. I don't know how we can stay in touch, but I'm giving you my address and email in hope that we can. Much love, Tom
